Section 3000 - Medication Prescribing and Use Projects (MPUP)

Individualized prescibing and appropriate use of medications can lead to better outcomes. It has been well documented that not all patients take their medications as directed. This occurs for a variety of reasons. While the goals of each program noted below are different, they have all achieved a degree of success in influencing medication prescribing and/or use. The programs illustrate ways in which behaviour can be influenced and can serve as a guide for the development of future programs by either the public or private sector. Thus far, the MPUP collection contains data on over 30 Canadian projects.
